The 4K BIOS ROM is for the original launch model E-mu Emax 1000 series, meaning non-SE/HD version. It is designed to fit on a 2732 EPROM.

The 8K BIOS ROM is designed for SCSI capable or upgradable models. When adding SCSI capability, the EPROM becomes the larger version with the extra code (for SCSI functions, etc.)

The TIM PAL functions enables SCSI chip funcitonality and is needed in conjunction with the newer 8K SCSI compatible BIOS so the CPU can comunicate with the BIOS ROM and SCSI chip.

The CS PAL chip is not needed as an upgrade/update, however it is included since this is an otherwise unobtainable part and the JEDEC file is necessary to program any replacements.

The PAL JEDEC files and 8K BIOS ROM are fully tested and known working.

The PAL JEDEC files are used to program PAL16R4 chips, unfortunately the programming hardware is specialized and generally expensive. However, quite a few inexpensive programmers will do GAL instead, so the PAL files were converted to GAL.

Lattice Semiconductor GAL16V8 IC is the appropriate and expected target if one is attempting to write their own GAL chips using these GAL files. The GAL files appear to work, but have not been thoroughly tested or verified to be working.

All binary files are original E-mu Systems material.
